Thanks to all of you who came along to our latest Second Chance Tuesday event to hear a lively debate on the Future of Online Gaming. Gaming guru Alice Taylor led the discussions with a panel of industry experts including Toby Rowland (CEO of King.com), Klaas Kersting (CEO of gameforge.de) and Michel Cassius (COO Imagini).

Toby Rowland

Klaas Kersting

Klaas Kersting is the CEO of Gameforge, one of the worlds largest independent developers and publishers of browser-based Massively Multiplayer Online Games The company launched in 2003 and has amassed over 40 million registered players and more than 6 million active players in 30 countries. Gameforge currently has 15 themed games in their portfolio catering to a wide variety of tastes such as sci-fi, vampires, Roman gladiators, pirates and mafia.

Michel Cassius

Michel Cassius has 20 years experience in Media, Technology and Games. After 8 years at Apple, Michel joined Electronic Arts to first develop their Publishing business in Europe and then to start EA.com. During this period, he managed one of the first MMOs, Ultima On-line. Michel joined the Xbox Division of Microsoft in 2001 for the launch of Xbox in Europe. In 2006, Michel joined Fun Technologies (Liberty Media) as MD for Europe. Michel is a co-founder of YoYo Games, one of the first Web 2.0 user generated Games business. He is also a Board Member of Funcom, a leading public MMO developer in Norway. Michel is currently COO of Imagini a UK based Internet startup that is changing the way consumers discover people, products, places, based on their personality.

Alice Taylor

Alice Taylor is the Commissioning Editor of Education Channel 4 Television. Alice Taylor has over a decade of experience working in new media, from developing Channel 4’s first website in early 1996 to more recently, Vice President of Digital Media for BBC Worldwide in Hollywood. In September 2007 Alice took up the role of Commissioning Editor, Education at Channel 4, focusing on pan-platform content for audiences aged 14-19. Alice founded the gamecentric blog Wonderland (www.wonderlandblog.com) and regularly writes about gaming in the international press. Wonderland was recently nominated for Best Non-Commercial Website or Blog in the MCV Games Media Awards.
