About The Glasshouse New York

The Glasshouse was founded in 1998 to provide support, encouragement and inspiration to entrepreneurs across all sectors. Our success in London spawned events in San Francisco, Prague, Sydney and, most recently, New York.

“Glasshouse events bring style and wit for the entrepreneurial set, you can't chuck a brick without hitting a mogul or a maven.” Jim Buckmaster, CEO, Craigslist

With a vision to create a powerhouse alliance in the city that personifies entrepreneurialism, Glasshouse New York launched January 2006 in downtown Manhattan with a kick-off forum developed for our founder members presenting guest entrepreneur and speaker Jim Buckmaster, CEO of Craigslist. From there, word spread, and we’ve hosted member events featuring conversations with entertainment guru Amy Sacco (Bungalow 8, Bette), new mainstream leaders Guy Garcia (Mentametrix) and Jon Cropper (BadBoy Worldwide Entertainment Group, Young & Rubicam), satire publisher Sean Mills (The Onion), and wiki-master Jimmy Wales (Wikipedia). Moderators have included Richard Siklos from the New York Times, and journalist Judith Miller.

Our previous events have had attracted attendees from organisations including: The BBC, Bessemer Venture Partners, Big Momma Productions, Business Week, CBS Marketwatch, CNBC, craigslist, Daily Candy, Elevation Partners, Fast Company, Flavorpill, Fresh Direct, Fortune Magazine, Greycroft Partners, Goldman Sachs, thehappycorp, Huffington Post, Kayak.com, Meet Moi, Meetup, MTV, The Onion, The New Yorker, The New York Post, The New York Times, The Sunday Times of London, Technorati, Union Square Ventures and the UK Government

Our home in New York is Soho House at the crossroads of the West Village and Chelsea. Membership draws from the very New York businesses of entertainment, new media, fashion, and finance, among others. We also welcome the Glasshouse members from London and other international chapters who typically fly in for the events and to mingle with the New York members. The format of our events is educational and conversational, promoting an ambiance of authentic, honest and clever exchange between speakers and members. We host events several times a year and will soon be launching a more intimate industry-specific breakfast series.
