We have had a strong response for the workshop and can now confirm the panel who comprise some of Europe’s highly respected investors and funded entrepreneurs. We are delighted to announce they are: Mattias Ljungman, partner Atomico Investments (co-founded by Niklas Zennström our headline speaker for the evening event); Sean Seaton-Rogers of Balderton Capital, Simon Murdoch, CEO of Friendsabroad and Richard Moross, Founder and CEO of MOO.com.

We will be hosting a workshop to provide practical advice for entrepreneurs who are seeking angel or seed funding through to series A investment. Topics will include: What it takes to get your business investment ready? How to decide how much to raise? Valuation. Where to find the best angels and early stage investors? What to look for when choosing an investor? How many investors to approach? What are investors looking for from you? How the investment deal and due diligence process works. How to get the most from your investor post deal.

Sean and Mattias are members of the Seedcamp board. They will be able to provide more information on this year’s programme.

about Simon Murdoch

Simon is founder and CEO of FriendsAbroad.com Ltd, a company running two language-related web services: doyouspeak.com and friendsabroad.com.

doyouspeak.com is on online English language school providing multimedia language lessons given by native English-speaking teachers. friendsabroad.com is a language exchange website for people who want to practice their language skills and develop friendships with people from other parts of the world.

Previously, Simon was VP Europe of Amazon.com. He managed huge growth from start up in late 1996 through to multimillion turnover and hundreds of staff, ie from founding of his own Internet bookselling company Bookpages in late 1996, through acquisition by Amazon.com in April 1998, launch of Amazon.co.uk in October 1998 and ultra-high growth through 1999.

He is also co-founder and partner of Episode 1 Partners Ltd, an early stage technology investment company. Episode 1 invested and managed the $100m Chase Episode 1 Fund which was launched in early 2000 to invest at start up or early stage in Internet and technology businesses such as Betfair.

Simon has also invested directly as a business angel and advised as non-executive chairman or director a number of software technology and Internet businesses based in the UK including LoveFilm (DVD rental), Shazam Entertainment (music recognition) and Commerce Decisions (e-sourcing solutions).


about Mattias Ljungman

Mattias is a partner at Atomico with a key responsibility for servicing Atomico's day-to-day operations and contributing to building the investment portfolio for the group. Mattias also represents Atomico on the Boards of various investee companies including DECA, Imagine, Seesmic, Wunderloop.

Mattias also sits on the Board of Seedcamp, an initiative set up in 2007 to provide seed funding and help build the European entrepreneurial ecosystem.

Mattias has a Masters from the Stockholm School of Economics and a BA from McGill University.


about Sean Seaton-Rogers

Sean interests at Balderton include consumer Internet, digital media, and open-source software companies. He is on the boards of Moveme.com, Wonga.com, BetNow, and TouchLocal.

Prior to joining Balderton Capital, Sean spent four years with Commonwealth Capital Ventures, an early-stage technology venture capital firm based in Boston. While at Commonwealth, Sean drove pilot investments in EDA software, Internet infrastructure, and enterprise software. Sean's experience also includes time at BEA Systems, a leading application infrastructure software company, where he focused on strategic sales into large, multinational corporations. Before that, Sean worked as a consultant in London for Bain & Company.

Education: MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, 2005, where he graduated as a Palmer Scholar; and a BS in Chemical Engineering from Rice University, 1997.


about Richard Moross

Richard is utterly convinced that design can change the world.

Since graduating in 2000 he has worked in a range of creative businesses in an attempt to prove this, from start-ups to global organizations, before founding MOO in August 2004. Prior to this, Richard was a senior strategist at Imagination, the world’s largest independent design company, where he was responsible for innovation and strategy for some of the world’s leading brands. His past companies also include sorted.com and the BBC and he has had his thoughts on design and innovation published in books, magazines and the web.
